  • Why are archival quality prints more expensive than regular prints?                                                                            Archival quality prints require higher quality materials and involve more rigorous production processes to ensure longevity and stability. A high-end archival Paper like Canon Pro Luster is depending size is anywhere from 260gsm min. to 300gsm and made of at least 6 layers. These materials and processes increase the cost, but provide a superior product that lasts much longer.
  • How should I display my gallery/archival quality print to ensure it lasts?                                                                    To protect your print, display it away from direct sunlight and in a stable environment free from high humidity or extreme temperature fluctuations. Use UV-protective glass or certified acid free acrylic in the frame to further shield the print from harmful UV rays. Your framers should also be well versed in using acid free, stable framing materials when dealing with Archival Prints.
  • Can gallery/archival quality prints be cleaned?                                                                                                                    It's best to avoid touching the surface of the print directly. Dust can be gently removed with a soft, dry brush or a microfiber cloth but avoid rubbing vigorously or applying pressure when wiping. Never use cleaning agents or water as they can damage the print. In Galleries, handling should already be be done by professionals wearing white silk/cotton gloves when handling unframed prints directly - check with your local gallery to confirm.
  • Is the Print Lab a walk-in business?                                                                                                                                      We don't have a walk-in LAB front - for consultations on larger projects we can come to you, and we also have a LAB Sample Set comprising: 1x 4x6 dye-sublimation print, 1x A4 6 colour dye ink print & 1x A3 10 colour pigment ink print for R799 excl. of delivery - the artwork used is changed from time to time or seasonally and is selected to best show our inhouse capabilities.
